Being prepared is always a good idea. However many of us often times get caught in the middle of an emergency totally disarmed. There are a few things you should have in your car when you hit the road, and in general.
Always try to have in your car the following items:
A flashlight (with an extra pair of batteries). Imagine yourself on a dark road with a car down! It will be hard to change a flat tire for example without light.
Jumper cables. These will enable you to jump start the car if your battery dies or lend somone a helping hand when necessery.
A jack (to change the tire). This should come as a standard in every car, but if you have bought a used car for instance you should double check if it’s still there.
A blanket to keep you warm if you God forbid find yourself in the middle of a winter storm with a car refusing to start. You can even throw in some old clothes.
First aid kit is a must to have in your car. In some countries it is the law to have an emergency first aid kit and a few other basic things that can come handy in case of accidents or break downs.
These are essentials you should always have in your car. You never expect to get caught in the middle of a storm or get into an accident, but things happen and you should always be prepared. So, if you are planning a long distance drive keep in mind those 5 things and make sure you have them in your car.
